Is Chess Acuity really free?

Yes. The app is free, has no ads, and no in-app purchases. It is also open source under the GPLv3.

Does it work offline?

Completely. The Stockfish engine is built into the app and runs on your iPhone, so analysis works with no internet connection and your positions never leave the device.

How does “set up from a photo” work?

Pick a photo or screenshot of a position from your photo library and Chess Acuity recognizes it using on-device board recognition. You can fine-tune any squares that need correcting, then analyze. The image is processed locally on your iPhone and is not uploaded anywhere.

How does playing against Stockfish work?

Choose a strength level and play a full game against the built-in engine. Afterwards you can review the game and analyze any position to see the moves you missed.

Is my data collected?

No. The app collects no personal data, has no accounts, and uses no analytics or third-party SDKs. See the Privacy Policy for details.

Which devices are supported?

Chess Acuity is an iPhone (iOS) app. There is no Android version and no web version.
